Alejandro Bernales is a consultant, advisor, researcher, and academic with over 20 years of international experience in financial economics. He is an Associate Professor (with tenure) at the School of Economics and Business at Universidad de Chile, where he also serves as Director of Research and Director of the Master’s in Finance program.
Dr. Bernales has held positions as a Research Fellow at the Inter-American Development Bank, a Marie Curie Fellow at the European Commission, and an economist at both the Banque de France (the Central Bank of France) and the Central Bank of Chile. Additionally, he has been a visiting professor at various international institutions, including the University of Sydney, Goethe University Frankfurt, and ESSEC Business School.
He has extensive experience as a director in the financial sector and has provided consultancy services to a wide range of institutions, such as companies, law firms, international organizations, and governments. His expertise encompasses regulation, legal cases involving financial decisions, corporate events, investments, valuations, and portfolio strategies.
Dr. Bernales has published numerous scientific articles in international journals specializing in financial economics and finance. He regularly contributes opinion columns to newspapers and online media. He is fluent in Spanish and English, with an intermediate proficiency level in French.
Dr. Bernales earned his Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering and a Master’s degree in Financial Engineering from the Catholic University of Chile.
